About Us

Tim Berners-Lee (http://www.w3.org/People/Berners-Lee/) is credited with creating the World Wide Web in 1989. Berners-Lee probably had no idea that his creation was going to have as large affect as it has had on the world. Initially, the Internet and the World Wide Web were only available to large universities and research laboratories. They used this exciting new form of communication to share theorems, experiment outcomes and correlate their combined data. A few years later, the Internet, along with the World Wide Web was open to commercial and personal usage.

Shortly after this period, Tom Slider, founder of Tuna Can Web Productions, was given access to SGI and Sun Microsystems UNIX workstations that were part of a TCP/IP LAN and were connected to the Internet. After seeing what it was being used and knowing the world citizens could benefit from having this resource at their disposal in their homes.

It was from that moment that Tuna Can Web Productions was created to provide professional looking web sites that reached everyone else on the Internet. We've continued to follow along with the Internet and the World Wide Web as it's grown. We've seen many things come and go, like the first Netscape Navigator (initially just called Netscape), increasingly powerful HTML standards and the advent of online commerce.

As the Internet has evolved from serving up pre-made web pages to database driven dynamic web sites, Tuna Can continues to provide services that fulfills their clients' needs.
